Two sides to look at racial discrimination issue and church's view on racial discrimination:

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛There are two sides to look at racial discrimination issue: (1) Discriminators usually are lack of proper family-education and understanding on racial insight, and also have poor communication and interaction with other races. In other words, people will be more respectful, understanding and tolerant of other racial cultures, customs and habitual conducts, if they can self-learn and are teachable to be open-minded. (2) People, who feel being discriminated, are to be aware that they should re-assess themselves, if they have attitude and behavior problems, as well as communication and interaction issues. It’s very important for new immigrants to learn English and improve their shortcomings, so they can exchange views, reduce misunderstanding, and increase mutual respects with others thru communication and interaction. By this way, new immigrants will find less prejudice and less misunderstanding, and receive more respects and tolerance reciprocally from other races. Quite often, visible minorities tend to be over-sensitive and over-interpret when it’s just a personal preference and an individual perception from others, rather than racial discrimination.

The center of Christianity is love (Matthew 22:37~40 & 1 Corinthians 13:4~7). The extent of implementing the Bible teaching in treating racial discrimination issue is different from one church to another and from one Christian to another, according to spiritual maturity and secular experience. About our church’s view on racial discrimination, you can find answer from these following quotes: (1) Our Chinese Fellowship pastor said, “We, Christians are supposed to be color-blind and gender-blind.” (2) A retired Chinese Church pastor said, “I like your church very much. Your church is a model church in Toronto.” (3) I said in my previous reply, “If I don’t have something good to offer, I will remain quiet and silent in this public forum.” Why would I volunteer to care about Rolia on-line community by contributing my knowledge and sharing my experience for no return from anyone here, and without prejudice against anyone’s background and situation?

    • It’s been 4 days and there hasn’t been any response yet. Here I step in to say:
These two questions and some others are actually very good questions. They need to be answered somewhat in depth and breadth in order to have a reasonable understanding. The best and proper way of interpretation is through the scriptures. We have a very strong bi-weekly Bible study group. The above questions will definitely be answered in our Bible study meeting. In addition, we have an open-minded monthly Chinese Fellowship (English & Mandarin) and an excellent English Bible-teaching church (website: thepeopleschurch.ca). You will benefit not only spiritually, but “secularly” as well. If anyone is interested in details, PM me.

ps: One, who is willing to dig, will one day find a mine.

      • I ever made occasional visits to your church long time ago. Lots of people I saw. Pastor C. P. is a TV personnel. I feel closer to him when I watch TV at home.
    • We respect any excellent Bible teacher, but no more than respect and regardless of the teacher’s celebrity status. Similarly, we respect an excellent school teacher, an excellent university professor or an excellent parent … .
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛The main thing is that we should learn from all of them. Receiving good Bible teaching is necessary, but you also need a good Fellowship and a good Bible study group. Our church is too big and people come mainly for the teaching. There is very little of interactions during Sunday services, unless long-timers who know each other thru other programs. Two criteria to evaluate or select a Fellowship and Bible study group: (1) you should feel comfortable there, and (2) you should feel you are compatible with the people there. A third criterion is that, (3) as a result of being there for some time, you should have learned and grown spiritually and secularly (application). In terms of application, yourself, your marriage, your children and so on should improve for the better and sooner. Also, a very important ingredient is caring: people really care for each other in a good Fellowship and a good Bible study group. These above said are just my thoughts to share with you. We have believers and non-believers come to our Fellowship and our Bible study group, and they still have ties with their home churches or other groups. English issue, by efforts and thru practices over time, can be overcome reasonably. It’s worth the efforts to join our Fellowship (English & Mandarin) and Bible study group. If I don’t have something good to offer, I will remain quiet and silent in this public forum. However, If you make efforts to come, you will be glad that you do so. In my previous reply, I had a note, “One, who is willing to dig, will one day find a mine.” There is a meaning behind this note.

      • 我很难用英文表达。一直在想一个问题,北美种族歧视比较普遍,每个角落都存在,尤其是对我们中国大陆来的移民更甚,你觉得西人教会怎么看待这个问题?
