本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A group of 900 scientists, concerned about mixing faith with science, wants to stop the Dalai Lama from speaking at a science meeting in Washington.
The exiled Tibetan leader was scheduled to speak Tuesday on the neurological effects of meditation at a conference presented by the Mind and Life Institute, reports The Washington Times.

Some researchers say meditation can contribute to physical and mental well-being and lead to a heightening of traits such as compassion and altruism.

But the scientists, who signed a petition against the Buddhist leader's participation, say that inviting a religious leader to speak at a scientific assembly sends a damaging message about the role of faith in science.
